Triple Feature (Films 1-3)

BOX-ART

-_-_-_-_-

Three separate black rectangles each with renders and logos for the corresponding film, makes up the front cover. On the back, similarly, are three panels with very brief descriptions and technical aspects for each film. At the bottom is a small blurb about the digital copies and various logos beneath.

Also, the disc has both Parisian & Canadian French as well as Latin & Castilian Spanish despite the box not specifying this.

MENUS

-_-_-

The first film has clips from the film playing inside some broken glass with options overlaid on top. The second and third films have clips playing inside of a faux movie theater design, with various animations playing. Options are, like the first film, overlaid on top.

AUDIO

-_-_-

With the film originally being released back in 2007 as one of Blu-Ray's earlier titles, they used an unencoded LPCM 5.1 track at 16 Bits. Accompanying the PCM track are Dolby versions in English and French with a stereo Spanish track at 192 Kb/s.

While the quality was fine I did notice an instance of sloppy editing during one sequence where a scene was cut (which is available in the deleted scenes on the disc) right as a character is starting another sentence; it just seems like it should have been cut slightly earlier to avoid the awkward editing.

VIDEO

-_-_-

The first film doesn't look very good, with tons of grain reduction, sharpening, haloing, etc. Sharpness and colors are also rather...meh, mostly because of the DNR making it look like more of an upscale than native high definition. Compression seemed ok, but I honestly couldn't tell if I was looking at compression artifacts or DNR artifacts! Funnily enough the trailer on second disc had a better, more filmic look than the encode here, which suggest to me it was super filtered for some reason.

The second film looks a bit better than the first, though it's just as soft, there's more natural grain. Some unsightly edge enhancement was added though making it seem, again, like more of an upscale than native HD.

The third film is easily the best looking of the three, it actually has a filmic presentation. It doesn't appear to have any of the awful artifacts the previous films had, I don't really have any complaints about this one.
