Part VI
BOX-ART
-_-_-_-_-
The front of the box features Jason, in a graveyard, along with a screaming girl. It looks rather generic, but it get's the job done and you instantly know from the iconic mask what you're watching.
MENUS
-_-_-
The menu is very basic and and has, "Play, Scene Select, Set-Up," and a trailer for the film. I assume that using a single layer disc kind of limits wasting bitrate on the bells and whistles of fancy menus.
AUDIO
-_-_-
The audio is 2.0 Dolby Surround, encoded at a bit rate of 192 KB/s. I assume that because of size constraints the deiced not to use the 5.1 mix that's on newer releases of the film, or maybe they simply hadn't remixed it at the time of this DVDs release.
VIDEO
-_-_-
The video bitrate is about 6 MB/s which is close to the bitrate of Super-bit encoded transfers! mean, sure the print they used has pops and splotches, but It's decent enough.
FINAL THOUGHTS
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Honestly, I never really cared much for any of the Friday the 13th movies, at least not all the ones after the original but, I saw this for $3 and with all the Friday The 13th game hype currently going around I figured it was worth buying at that price.
On a more technical approach, this is a very good DVD, in fact, I was surprised thinking it would look awful. It's kind of a shame they included only Dolby Surround instead of using full 5.1. I really think the only reason they included 2.0 was to save space and not compromise video quality on a the disc.
TECH. SPECS.
